The Normannii Thiud aet Reik attended Troth Moot 2004 in Beacon, NY. Folk from each Shire of Normandy: Oetheland, Niagara, Trakeo, and York gathered together as a tribe once more. Many workshops were attended by our folk, including the Viking Games, which were officiated by the Fyrhring Fostijori, Lou Thain. Niagara Shire’s Tim Goodfolk won the axe throwing competition and the over-all victor claimed a Norman prize, a Saex Longsword donated by Dan Lord. It was Con Gebur who took 3rd place in the Skaldic contest, which was hosted by Dan Lord, with Patty LaFalville of the Troth taking 1st.
At our informal sumble Shelly Thainwif graced us with her enchanting song of Frigga, and Lord Dan gifted his folk in his usual generous way. Micha Karlen surprised all by unveiling an early stage of her self-appointed project to create a mobile storage counter to better facilitate our tribe at gatherings.
Proceeding formal sumble on Saturday Night, William Sergens McNamara re-affirmed his oath to Dan Lord and was re-heighted William Thain. Likewise, Dan Thain swore his Thane’s oath upon Dan Lord’s knee. In addition, The Witan approved a recent request from Aldis Goodfolk to enter into Skalkdom in Normannii. Aldis Skalk was sold in private sale to Lord Dan, with the usual 3 lucky pennies exchanged. As Sumble convened many a god was honored and gifting was carried out liberally. Good cheer was abundant and the bonds of frith were strengthened.
Sadly, as with all things, the gathering came to an end and we bid farewell to a fantastic weekend with wonderful people making it one to remember.
