Thiud Eostre Abanning 2002

The Niagara Shire hosted an Eostre blot the weekend of March 28, 2002. It was by any measure a great success. The Folk started arriving on Wednesday evening; with the peers Billy Thain and his wife Diane, followed soon after by Lord Dan and his Leman Cynthia arriving on Thursday evening.

Formal Sumble was held on Friday evening after a spectacular feast prepared by Micha Kottaren – centered around Shepard's Pie with Lamb! Sumble was anything but boring, and as usual an inspiring event. Lord Dan was his usual gracious self, and gifted several artifacts from our ancestors to those in his service and unto the Landlord and Landlady.

During Sumble Dan Lord also deemed that his dreng is to develop a martial training program; and set Bill Dreng as captain of the Atheling’s Guard the Fyrhring Drengthreat, with Glenn Dreng as his Lieutenant. John Aescman was heighted to the post of Scyldbryta, and tasked with continuing the Normannii-Dansk Language Project.

It was then deemed that the Norman Witas Gedryth shall be reconstituted, and that the post of high wita shall be held by William Thain, the post of Junior Wita by John Aescmann, and Micha Kottaren shall sit as Draught Wita.

Kevin Fedtha boasted his work with the Normannii Web site and that it shall be ready for public viewing by Midsummer 2002.

Saturday morning came and we held a blot to Lady Eostre, Freyr and Idunn. The day was sunny and beautiful. Each of us offered an egg to the need fire with our hopes for the season to come. The rest of the weekend was filled with axe throwing, archery, blacksmithing, touring Niagara Falls and plenty of socializing.

On Sunday evening, the Reik held Tribal Moot. It was decided that Thing Tides should resume. Kevin Fedtha setup an IRC room #Normannii_Heall for this purpose with the next Thing Tide scheduled for April 21 from 6 - 8.

We expect to complete the Affirmation of Thew with the Gerings by the end of April as a final draft was sent to the Winland Rice in March.

A web Site Hosting Company was decided upon and Kevin Fedtha will co-ordinate that process. Monthly Updates should be posted to the Normannii Thiud List on each and every project that is in process to ensure all are aware of what we are working on. For the purpose of the Website, each person will be asked to provide AT LEAST one essay each year on a religious topic. To start this process John Aescmann has volunteered to provide one by Midsummer.

The Normannii Reiks, public list has become quite quiet... an effort shall be made to re-stimulate that message board with some heathen Chat and Discussion topics. To start that off, Kevin Fedtha will put together some information and questions/thoughts on Idunn, Eostre or both.
