The Bayeaux Tapestry

The Bayeaux Tapestry is one of the most famous pieces of medieval art to survive to the modern day. It depicts the invasion of England by the Normans under William the Conqueror in 1066, and is an invaluable source of information concerning not only the specifics of the conduct of the invasion, but also the generalities of life at that time.
